Who makes Amaron batteries
Amaron is the car battery brand of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility, an Indian company with its main plants in Andhra Pradesh. The business was founded in 1985 and the Amaron name reached the market in 2000. Its green cases are a common sight under bonnets across India, and the brand is exported to dozens of countries.
From 1997 to 2019 Amara Raja worked in partnership with Johnson Controls, the American group whose car battery business later became Clarios, and which held a stake in the company throughout. The partnership ended in 2019 and Amara Raja has run independently since. It also supplies original equipment batteries to car makers that build in India.
For the Gulf, Amara Raja runs a trading subsidiary from the Sharjah Airport International Free Zone. The range sold here centres on maintenance-free flooded batteries in the JIS sizes Japanese and Korean cars use, which makes Amaron a regular option for Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi models without start-stop in the UAE.

Built for hot roads
Amaron is designed and built in India, where summer heat and stop-go traffic are normal operating conditions. Dubai is hotter still, but the starting point is closer than a battery designed for northern Europe.

Amaron says its grids use a silver alloy to slow corrosion at high temperature, and corrosion is exactly what Gulf heat accelerates. That helps, but it does not cancel the climate. Expect a shorter life than the same battery would see in a mild country, and less again if the car sits unused for weeks.
