Signs you need tyre puncture and repair

  • A tyre pressure warning keeps returning a few days after you add air.

  • You can see a screw or nail head sitting in the tread.

  • One tyre looks visibly lower than the others each morning.

  • A rhythmic ticking from one wheel speeds up as the car does.

What tyre puncture and repair covers

  • Puncture located and the damage assessed

  • Roadside plug for a simple tread puncture

  • Internal patch-plug repair at a tyre shop

  • Spare wheel fitted if the tyre is beyond repair

  • Pressures set on all four tyres

  • Valve and rim checked for slow leaks

What Gulf conditions change

  • Hot roads and low pressure are a bad pair. An under-inflated tyre flexes more, builds heat in the sidewall and can fail suddenly at highway speed, which is why slow punctures matter more in a UAE summer. Construction areas and new communities also leave screws and nails on the road. Check pressures cold, in the morning, at least monthly.

How it works, step by step

  1. Send location and photo

Call or WhatsApp your location with the car model. A photo of the tyre and the object in it, if visible, shows whether a repair is likely or a spare is needed.

  2. Technician arrives

An arrival estimate is confirmed before dispatch. Leave the nail or screw in place and avoid driving on the flat tyre, since a few hundred metres can ruin the sidewall.

  3. Inspect, then repair

The technician finds the hole and checks its size and position. A small puncture in the tread is plugged on the spot, and anything doubtful is sent for an internal patch or replaced.

  4. Pressure check and advice

All four tyres are set to the pressures on the door-frame label, and the repair is checked for leaks. You are told if the tyre should be re-inspected or replaced soon.

Tyre Puncture and Repair: questions

All questions and answers
When can a punctured tyre not be repaired?

When the hole is in the sidewall or the shoulder, when it is larger than about 6 mm, when two repairs would overlap, or when the tyre was driven flat and the inside is damaged. Tread worn to the wear bars and cracked or aged rubber also rule it out. In those cases the tyre is replaced.

Is a plug as good as a patch?

No. A plug pushed in from outside seals the hole but leaves the inside of the tyre unseen. The repair that tyre makers recommend is a combined patch and plug fitted from inside with the tyre off the rim. A roadside plug gets you moving, and having the tyre checked internally afterwards is the sound approach.

Can run-flat tyres be repaired?

Sometimes. It depends on the policy of the tyre maker and on how far and how fast the tyre was driven with no pressure. A run-flat that has carried the car while empty may have internal damage that cannot be seen from outside. The tyre has to come off the rim for inspection before anyone decides.

I have no spare wheel. What happens if the tyre cannot be fixed?

Many newer cars carry only a sealant kit. If the tyre is beyond repair and there is no spare, the options are a replacement tyre brought to you, where the size is available, or a flatbed to a tyre shop. Send the tyre size from the sidewall, such as 225/45 R17, when you call.
