What to know about Acura batteries
Idle stop means AGM
Later MDX, RDX and TLX versions with idle stop are built with an AGM battery. Fitting a flooded one causes early failure and can disable idle stop, so we check the original before choosing a unit.
Group 24F and 51R
Many V6 Acura models, including older MDX and TL, take a Group 24F. Smaller four-cylinder cars such as the ILX commonly use the compact 51R. We verify by year because newer models changed size.

Which battery does a Acura EL take?
A Acura EL typically takes a maintenance-free flooded battery, in the range Group 48 / 94R (H6–H7). The EL takes a sealed maintenance-free battery. In Gulf heat the things that matter are the correct case size, enough capacity for the AC and accessories, and a recent manufacture date.
Can you replace a EL battery where it is parked?
Yes. We come to homes, offices, basement and mall parking and the roadside across our Dubai coverage. Send the building name, parking level and any security rules so the technician can reach the car.
Does the EL need battery registration?
No. The EL does not need the new battery registered with a diagnostic tool. Some settings such as the clock or one-touch windows may need resetting, which the technician does before leaving.
How long does a EL battery last in the UAE?
About two years is typical here, against three to five in cooler climates. Heat ages the battery whether the car is driven or not, and short trips with the AC on full never quite recharge it. A test before summer shows how much life is left.
The radio asks for a code after a battery change. What do I do?
Older Acura audio units lock when power is cut. We use a memory keeper during the swap to avoid this where possible. If it does lock, holding the power button for a few seconds restores many units. Otherwise the serial-based code is needed.
