Roadside work on a BYD is limited to testing and boosting the 12V circuit and replacing a lead-acid auxiliary battery where one is fitted. Orange high-voltage cables and the traction pack are left alone. Faults there belong with the BYD service centre.
The label settles the type
Earlier BYD models and some hybrids use an ordinary 12V lead-acid battery that we replace like any other. We cannot tell the type reliably from the model name alone, because it changed over the years. A photo of the 12V battery label settles it.
Does the M6 need battery registration?
Models with the 12V lithium battery manage it through built-in electronics, so replacement is a workshop job done with the correct part for that car. BYDs with a lead-acid auxiliary battery are replaced like for like at the car.

Which battery does a BYD M6 take?
A BYD M6 typically takes a maintenance-free flooded battery, in the range DIN 70 – DIN 100 / 80D26 – 105D31. The M6 takes a sealed maintenance-free battery. In Gulf heat the things that matter are the correct case size, enough capacity for the AC and accessories, and a recent manufacture date.
Can you replace a M6 battery where it is parked?
Yes. We come to homes, offices, basement and mall parking and the roadside across our Dubai coverage. Send the building name, parking level and any security rules so the technician can reach the car.
Does the M6 need battery registration?
It depends on the year and specification. Versions with a battery sensor or start-stop need the new battery registered or the monitoring reset. Tell us the model year and we confirm before dispatch whether it applies and whether it is included.
How long does a M6 battery last in the UAE?
About two years is typical here, against three to five in cooler climates. Heat ages the battery whether the car is driven or not, and short trips with the AC on full never quite recharge it. A test before summer shows how much life is left.
My BYD says the 12V battery is low. Can I keep driving?
Treat it as a warning to act soon. Once the car is in ready mode the high-voltage system normally keeps the 12V battery charged, so the risk is the next start after parking. If the message returns, have the 12V system tested. Repeated low readings on a lithium unit need the service centre.
