Dual-mode charging confuses testers
Hondas switch the alternator between a low mode of roughly 12.5 V and a high mode above 14 V depending on electrical load. A low reading with everything switched off is normal. We test with headlights and AC on before judging the charging system.
The compact B24 case
Four-cylinder Civic, CR-V and many Accord models use the narrow B24 case, around 45 Ah. Fitting a wider D23 battery needs a different tray and clamp, so we replace like for like unless the car is already set up for the larger case.

Which battery does a Honda CR-Z take?
A Honda CR-Z typically takes a maintenance-free flooded or EFB or AGM battery, in the range NS40 – NS60 (35–45 Ah). Most CR-Z cars take a maintenance-free battery. Versions with auto start-stop need EFB or AGM instead. If your engine switches off at traffic lights, tell us and we bring the right type.
Can you replace a CR-Z battery where it is parked?
Yes. We come to homes, offices, basement and mall parking and the roadside across our Dubai coverage. Send the building name, parking level and any security rules so the technician can reach the car.
Does the CR-Z need battery registration?
No. The CR-Z does not need the new battery registered with a diagnostic tool. Some settings such as the clock or one-touch windows may need resetting, which the technician does before leaving.
How long does a CR-Z battery last in the UAE?
About two years is typical here, against three to five in cooler climates. Heat ages the battery whether the car is driven or not, and short trips with the AC on full never quite recharge it. A test before summer shows how much life is left.
Why is my Honda Civic battery so small?
Honda designs its four-cylinder cars around a narrow B24 case of about 45 Ah. It is enough for the engine, but it has less reserve than the batteries in larger saloons. In Dubai heat that means testing it yearly and avoiding long periods with accessories on and the engine off.
