What to know about Hongqi batteries
E-HS9 is fully electric
The E-HS9 has no engine to crank, but its 12V battery powers locks, screens and the contactors that connect the traction pack. We confirm the 12V type for your year before dispatch, as it may not be standard lead-acid.
48V system on the H9
The 2.0T H9 uses a 48V starter-generator with its own small lithium pack. The 12V battery is still a separate unit and is the one we test and replace. A fault on the 48V side needs the dealer.

A Hongqi Mingshi typically takes a maintenance-free flooded battery, in the range DIN 70 – DIN 100 (L3–L5). The Mingshi takes a sealed maintenance-free battery. In Gulf heat the things that matter are the correct case size, enough capacity for the AC and accessories, and a recent manufacture date.
Can you replace a Mingshi battery where it is parked?
Yes. We come to homes, offices, basement and mall parking and the roadside across our Dubai coverage. Send the building name, parking level and any security rules so the technician can reach the car.
Does the Mingshi need battery registration?
No. The Mingshi does not need the new battery registered with a diagnostic tool. Some settings such as the clock or one-touch windows may need resetting, which the technician does before leaving.
How long does a Mingshi battery last in the UAE?
About two years is typical here, against three to five in cooler climates. Heat ages the battery whether the car is driven or not, and short trips with the AC on full never quite recharge it. A test before summer shows how much life is left.
Can you jump-start a Hongqi E-HS9?
We can boost its 12V battery, which is what an electric car needs to wake up. We cannot charge the traction pack at the roadside. If the main pack is empty, the car needs a charger or recovery.
