What to know about Renault batteries
Hands-free card needs voltage
With the hands-free key card, the car must power its antennas and steering lock before it will start. A weak battery can leave the card undetected or the start button unresponsive while the dash lights still glow. A voltage test separates that from a flat card battery.
Fuse carrier on the terminal
Many Renaults, including the Megane, Fluence and Captur, mount a fuse and connection block directly on the battery positive post. It must be unclipped and refitted square. A poorly seated block causes voltage drop and odd electrical faults that get blamed on the new battery.
Does the Laguna need battery registration?
Recent Renaults with Stop and Start watch the battery through a sensor on the negative terminal. Most relearn the new battery on their own after the car rests locked. Where a model calls for a diagnostic reset, we say so first.
