Workshop assessment
The car is brought in or collected and the painter checks how deep the damage goes. You get a quote listing the panels and the expected number of days.
Preparation and spraying
Trim is removed or masked, the surface is sanded and primed, then base coat and clear coat are sprayed in a booth and left to cure fully.
Polish and collection
The new paint is polished and compared with the rest of the car in daylight. You are told how soon it can be washed, waxed or parked under a cover.

Paint Repair: questions
Will the new paint match the rest of the car?
The painter starts from the factory paint code, then adjusts the mix because the existing paint has aged in the sun. The new colour is usually blended into the neighbouring panels so there is no visible step between old and new. Metallic, pearl and three-layer colours take more work than solid ones.
Can peeling clear coat be repaired without repainting?
No. Once clear coat lifts, the layer has failed and there is nothing left to polish. Spraying new clear over the old flaking edges does not last. The proper repair is to sand the panel back to a sound surface, then apply fresh base coat and clear coat.
How long will the car be in the workshop?
It depends on how many panels are painted and how much preparation they need. A single panel is quicker than a roof, bonnet and boot together, and each coat needs time to cure before the next step. The workshop gives an estimate in days with the quote.
What does the cost of a respray depend on?
It depends on the number and size of panels, the colour type, how much old paint has to be removed, and whether trim, glass seals or badges must come off. After seeing the car, the workshop gives a written quote before any sanding or painting begins.
