Boot-mounted batteries on saloons
ATS, CTS and CT6 have the battery in the boot, behind or under the trim on one side. To jump-start, use the positive terminal and earth point under the bonnet. Replacement takes longer than on a car with the battery up front.
AGM is the factory standard
Cadillac moved to AGM batteries across most of the range as start-stop became standard on models such as XT4, XT5, XT6, CT4 and CT5. Fitting a flooded battery in its place causes start-stop faults and a short service life.

Which battery does a Cadillac ELR take?
A Cadillac ELR typically takes an AGM or EFB battery, in the range Group 48 / 94R (H6–H7). The ELR uses start-stop and energy recovery, so it needs an AGM or EFB battery. A conventional battery in its place wears out within months.
Can you replace a ELR battery where it is parked?
Yes. We come to homes, offices, basement and mall parking and the roadside across our Dubai coverage. Send the building name, parking level and any security rules so the technician can reach the car.
Does the ELR need battery registration?
No. The ELR does not need the new battery registered with a diagnostic tool. Some settings such as the clock or one-touch windows may need resetting, which the technician does before leaving.
How long does a ELR battery last in the UAE?
About two years is typical here, against three to five in cooler climates. Heat ages the battery whether the car is driven or not, and short trips with the AC on full never quite recharge it. A test before summer shows how much life is left.
Where is the battery in a Cadillac CTS or ATS?
In the boot, on the side behind the trim panel. Many owners look under the bonnet and find only the jump-start terminals. Our technician removes the boot trim, swaps the battery, reconnects the vent tube and refits everything. You do not need to empty the whole boot, only that side.
