A flat 12V battery is the usual reason. The control computers need 12V before they can connect the traction pack or run the range extender. We boost the 12V system at the car and then check that battery.
We boost the 12V system only. Nothing is cranked, so the current needed is small. Once the car wakes, its converter supports the 12V side from the main pack. We never connect anything to the high-voltage system.
