What to know about Peugeot batteries
EFB on current SUVs
The second-generation 3008 and 5008 with Stop and Start are factory-fitted with a 70 Ah EFB in the L3 case. AGM is an acceptable upgrade. A standard flooded battery is not, because it wears out quickly under repeated restarts.
Stop and Start returns later
After a battery change, Stop and Start may stay unavailable on the first drives. The battery sensor needs the car to rest, locked and undisturbed, for several hours to measure the new battery. This is described in the handbook and is not a fault.
Does the 408 need battery registration?
Stop and Start Peugeots carry a battery charge sensor on the negative terminal. On most models it needs no coding but must relearn with the car left locked for several hours. If your model needs a diagnostic reset, we advise first.

Which battery does a Peugeot 408 take?
A Peugeot 408 typically takes a maintenance-free flooded or EFB or AGM battery, in the range DIN 60 – DIN 80 (L2–L4). Most 408 cars take a maintenance-free battery. Versions with auto start-stop need EFB or AGM instead. If your engine switches off at traffic lights, tell us and we bring the right type.
Can you replace a 408 battery where it is parked?
Yes. We come to homes, offices, basement and mall parking and the roadside across our Dubai coverage. Send the building name, parking level and any security rules so the technician can reach the car.
Does the 408 need battery registration?
It depends on the year and specification. Versions with a battery sensor or start-stop need the new battery registered or the monitoring reset. Tell us the model year and we confirm before dispatch whether it applies and whether it is included.
How long does a 408 battery last in the UAE?
About two years is typical here, against three to five in cooler climates. Heat ages the battery whether the car is driven or not, and short trips with the AC on full never quite recharge it. A test before summer shows how much life is left.
Stop and Start has not worked since the battery was changed. Was the wrong battery fitted?
Not necessarily. The system often stays off until the battery sensor has relearned, which needs the car parked and locked for several hours, sometimes overnight. If it is still unavailable after a few days of normal driving, the battery type or its state of charge should be checked, and we can test both.
