The small battery powers the locks, screens and the contactors that connect the drive battery. When it fails, a Polestar with full range can still be completely dead.
Type differs by model
The Polestar 2 takes an H6 AGM battery. The Polestar 3 and 4 sit on newer platforms, and we do not assume they use the same unit. We confirm by model and year before dispatch.
Does the Polestar 1 need battery registration?
Polestar shares battery monitoring with Volvo. After a 12 V replacement the monitoring may need a reset, depending on the model, and the windows need their automatic function reinitialised.

Which battery does a Polestar 1 take?
A Polestar 1 typically takes a 12V lithium or auxiliary or AGM battery. The Polestar 1 runs its locks, screens and computers from a small low-voltage battery that is separate from the drive battery. Its type depends on the build year, so we confirm it from your VIN or a photo before sending a technician.
Can you replace a Polestar 1 battery where it is parked?
Yes. We come to homes, offices, basement and mall parking and the roadside across our Dubai coverage. Send the building name, parking level and any security rules so the technician can reach the car.
Does the Polestar 1 need battery registration?
It depends on the year and specification. Versions with a battery sensor or start-stop need the new battery registered or the monitoring reset. Tell us the model year and we confirm before dispatch whether it applies and whether it is included.
How long does a Polestar 1 battery last in the UAE?
About two years is typical here, against three to five in cooler climates. Heat ages the battery whether the car is driven or not, and short trips with the AC on full never quite recharge it. A test before summer shows how much life is left.
Can a Polestar 2 be jump-started?
Its 12 V battery can be supported from a booster so the car powers up, following the procedure in the manual. That is different from charging the drive battery. We do this on site, then test whether the 12 V battery needs replacing.
