What to know about Porsche batteries
Cayenne, Macan and Panamera locations
The Macan and Panamera carry the battery under the boot floor. Earlier Cayenne generations place it under the front left seat. All three have jump-start points under the bonnet, so a boost is quick even when the battery itself takes time to reach.
Lithium 12V starter batteries
Some newer Porsches, including the Cayenne from 2019 and certain 911 variants, use a 12V lithium-ion starter battery that communicates with the car over a data line. It cannot be swapped for an AGM battery. We check the battery type before dispatch.
Does the Boxster need battery registration?
Cayenne, Macan, Panamera and recent 911 and 718 models need the new battery registered with a diagnostic tool so the energy management resets. Older sports cars do not. Whether registration is included is confirmed before we dispatch.

Which battery does a Porsche Boxster take?
A Porsche Boxster typically takes an AGM or EFB battery, in the range DIN 70 – DIN 95 (L3–L5). Later Boxster model years have start-stop and energy recovery, which need an AGM or EFB battery. Earlier ones take a standard maintenance-free unit. The label on your current battery tells us which.
Can you replace a Boxster battery where it is parked?
Yes. We come to homes, offices, basement and mall parking and the roadside across our Dubai coverage. Send the building name, parking level and any security rules so the technician can reach the car.
Does the Boxster need battery registration?
On most model years, yes. The car tracks the age and type of its battery, so the new one has to be registered or it keeps charging as if the old battery were still fitted. We confirm before dispatch whether registration is included for your Boxster.
How long does a Boxster battery last in the UAE?
About two years is typical here, against three to five in cooler climates. Heat ages the battery whether the car is driven or not, and short trips with the AC on full never quite recharge it. A test before summer shows how much life is left.
Can I replace my Porsche lithium battery with an AGM one?
Not on cars built with the lithium starter battery. The car expects the battery to communicate with it, and an AGM battery triggers warnings and a restricted power mode. Like-for-like replacement is the rule. Tell us the model year and we confirm what is fitted before sending anyone.
