Confirm the 12V battery type
XPeng has used different 12V batteries across models and years, and some may be lithium. We ask for the model and year, check what is fitted, and tell you before dispatch whether we can replace it at the roadside.
800V pack, 12V controls
Fast high-voltage charging has nothing to do with the 12V system. Door handles, screens and the computers that close the main contactors all run from 12V, so a weak 12V battery can immobilise a fully charged XPeng.

Which battery does a XPeng P5 take?
A XPeng P5 typically takes a 12V lithium or auxiliary or AGM battery. The P5 runs its locks, screens and computers from a small low-voltage battery that is separate from the drive battery. Its type depends on the build year, so we confirm it from your VIN or a photo before sending a technician.
Can you replace a P5 battery where it is parked?
Yes. We come to homes, offices, basement and mall parking and the roadside across our Dubai coverage. Send the building name, parking level and any security rules so the technician can reach the car.
Does the P5 need battery registration?
No. The P5 does not need the new battery registered with a diagnostic tool. Some settings such as the clock or one-touch windows may need resetting, which the technician does before leaving.
How long does a P5 battery last in the UAE?
About two years is typical here, against three to five in cooler climates. Heat ages the battery whether the car is driven or not, and short trips with the AC on full never quite recharge it. A test before summer shows how much life is left.
The door handles on my XPeng will not present. What should I do?
That points to a flat 12V battery. Use the manual door release described in the owner manual, then message us. We boost the 12V system so the car wakes, and test whether the battery will hold charge or needs replacing.
