How it works, step by step

  1. Send the listing

Share the advert or the make, model, year and mileage, plus the seller's location. We agree a time that suits you, the seller and the inspector.

  2. Inspection at the car

The inspector goes over the body, underside as far as access allows, engine bay, interior and electronics, then scans the control units for fault codes.

  3. Test drive

With the seller's consent the car is driven to judge the engine, gearbox shifts, steering, brakes and suspension noises once everything has warmed up.

  4. Written findings

You receive a report listing what is sound, what is worn and what needs repair soon, with photos. It is yours to use when you decide or negotiate.

What pre-purchase inspection covers

  • Body panels checked for repaint and accident repair

  • Engine checked for leaks, noises and overheating signs

  • Gearbox behaviour assessed on a test drive

  • Diagnostic scan of stored fault codes

  • Battery, charging system and air conditioning tested

  • Written report with photos of each finding

Signs you need pre-purchase inspection

  • You have found a used car online and the deal looks unusually good.

  • The seller says the car is accident-free but has no paperwork to show it.

  • The car was imported and you do not know its history abroad.

  • You are buying from a private seller and there will be no comeback after transfer.

What Gulf conditions change

  • The UAE used-car market includes many imported cars alongside GCC-specification ones, and some imports arrive after accident or flood damage abroad and are repaired locally. Fresh paint and a clean interior hide a lot. Readings of paint thickness, a look at panel gaps and welds, and a fault-code scan show what a walk-round and a short drive cannot.

Pre-Purchase Inspection: questions

All questions and answers
Does the seller have to agree to the inspection?

Yes. The inspector needs the seller's permission to examine the car, connect a scanner and take it for a test drive. Most genuine sellers agree without difficulty. A seller who refuses any independent check, or who will only allow a quick look, is giving you useful information in itself.

Can the inspection find a previous accident?

In most cases, yes. Repainted panels read thicker than factory paint, and repairs leave signs such as uneven gaps, overspray on rubber seals, disturbed bolts and non-factory welds. The report says where repair work was found and how serious it looks. It cannot always tell you when or how the damage happened.

Does a clean inspection mean nothing will go wrong later?

No. It is a snapshot of the car's condition on the day, based on what can be seen, measured, scanned and felt on a test drive without dismantling anything. It greatly lowers the risk of an expensive surprise, but internal wear in an engine or gearbox is not always detectable.

What does a pre-purchase inspection cost?

The cost depends on where the car is, the type of car and how detailed a check you want; high-end and performance models take longer. We confirm the charge when you book, before the inspector travels, and it is the same whatever the result of the inspection.
