Jaguars from the XF onward use a battery monitoring system that is reset with a diagnostic tool after a new battery goes in. S-Type and X-Type models do not. We confirm ahead of dispatch whether that reset is included.
The rotary or electronic gear selector needs power to release Park. With a dead battery the car cannot be rolled or pushed until the manual park release is used or power is restored. Restoring power at the car is usually simpler than recovery.
The XF, XJ, XK and F-Type keep the battery under the boot floor. Jump-start terminals are under the bonnet, so the boot does not need to open for a boost. The transverse-engined E-Pace has its battery in the engine bay.
