Volvo battery replacement in Dubai, 24/7

Volvo battery replacement in Dubai often involves two batteries, not one. Most start-stop Volvos carry a main starter battery plus a small support battery, and either can trigger a warning. Our technician comes to the car 24/7, tests both, jump-starts the car if that solves it, or replaces the faulty one on site.

Volvo battery sizes by model

Typical Gulf-spec fitment for the Volvo models we see most. Engine and model year can change it, so we match the label on your current battery before dispatch.

ModelBattery typeTypical sizeNote
XC90AGMDIN 80 AGM (H7, 80 Ah)Second-generation cars use either H7 or DIN 95 AGM (H8) depending on engine and trim. We check the label before dispatch.
XC60AGMDIN 80 AGM (H7, 80 Ah)Higher-output and well-equipped versions may be fitted with 95 Ah in the H8 case.

Sizes are a guide, not a guarantee. Send a photo of the battery label for an exact match.

Battery registration on Volvo

  • Volvos with a battery monitoring sensor need it reset with a diagnostic tool after replacement, so the car stops charging for an aged battery. Older models have no sensor. We confirm before dispatch whether the reset is included.

What is different about Volvo batteries

  • Main battery in the boot

On the XC90, S90 and second-generation XC60 the starter battery lives in the cargo area, under or beside the load floor. Jump-start points are under the bonnet. Other models keep the battery in the engine bay, so we ask for model and year first.

  • The support battery

Start-stop Volvos use a second, much smaller battery to hold voltage steady while the engine restarts. When it weakens, start-stop stops working and a service message appears. On recent mild-hybrid models a 48V battery does this job instead.

  • Charging fault and power save

Volvo drivers see messages along the lines of 12 V battery charging fault, or low battery charge with power save mode. The first can point to the charging system or battery sensor as much as the battery. The second means the car is limiting infotainment to protect starting power.

  • AGM in H7 or H8

Current Volvos specify AGM for the main battery, usually 80 Ah in the H7 case or 95 Ah in the H8, depending on engine and equipment. The two sizes are secured differently in the car, so the size already fitted is the size we bring.

Jump start, test or replace your Volvo

A car that will not start does not always need a new battery. The technician tests first, then does the smallest job that gets you moving.

Battery replacement

When it fits: The battery fails the test, will not hold charge, or is swollen or leaking.

  • New battery matched to your car, delivered and fitted where you are parked
  • Charging system checked once the engine is running
  • Old battery taken away for recycling, warranty up to 24 months
How it works

Car Battery Jump Start

When it fits: Lights were left on or the car sat for days, and the battery is otherwise healthy.

  • A technician sent to your location in Dubai at any hour, with the arrival estimate confirmed before dispatch
  • A professional booster with surge protection instead of cables run from another car
  • Connection at the points your car maker specifies, including dedicated jump posts under the bonnet
How it works

Car Battery Testing

When it fits: Slow cranking, a warning light, or a battery that keeps going flat.

  • Resting voltage reading: about 12.6 to 12.8 V is healthy, and below 12.4 V the battery needs a recharge
  • Conductance or load test: the battery should hold 9.6 V or more under load
  • Charging voltage with the engine running, normally about 13.8 to 14.4 V

Volvo in the UAE: what wears the battery

The XC90 and XC60 are family cars here, used for school runs and mall trips with climate control, seat cooling and screens running throughout. Engines are small and turbocharged, and the start-stop system cycles constantly in traffic. High load combined with frequent restarts is hard on both batteries in summer.

Volvo sells plug-in hybrids and fully electric models such as the XC40 Recharge, C40 and EX30 in the UAE. A 12V battery still runs the locks, screens and control units and brings the high-voltage system online. If it fails, the car stays dark.

How a Volvo battery replacement works

You know the battery, the arrival estimate and what is included before a technician leaves for your car.

  1. Send your location

Call or WhatsApp your location pin, the car make, model and year, and where it is parked.

  2. We confirm before dispatch

You hear which battery fits, whether registration is part of the job and the estimated arrival time.

  3. Tested at the car

The technician checks the battery and the charging system and tells you what the readings mean.

  4. Started or replaced

A jump start if that is enough. If not, the new battery goes in, the old one leaves with us and you pay by cash, card, Tabby or Tamara.

Volvo battery questions

All questions and answers
What does 'Start/Stop Service Required' mean on a Volvo?

It usually points to the small support battery, not the main one. The car can still start and drive, but start-stop is disabled. We test both batteries at the car. Support battery access differs by model, so we confirm before dispatch whether it can be changed on site.

Where is the battery on a Volvo XC90?

In the cargo area. On the current XC90 it is reached by lifting the load floor at the back, and the first-generation car also has it under the boot floor. The current car has jump points under the bonnet, so a boost does not need the boot emptied.

Is a 'power save mode' warning a sign the battery is dying?

Not always. It appears whenever charge is low, for example after sitting with the ignition on and the engine off. A good drive may clear it. If it returns every few days, the battery has likely lost capacity, and a load test at the car will confirm it.

Do you reset the Volvo battery sensor after fitting?

On models that have the sensor, it should be reset so the charging system treats the battery as new. We tell you before dispatch whether that reset is part of your job. Send the model, year and engine on WhatsApp and we check what your car needs.
